Falaye Olympiad Rewards Brilliance, Aims to Put Owo on the Global Map — Dr. Foluso Falaye

 



The Falaye Science and Mathematics Olympiad (FSMO) held its second annual award ceremony on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, honouring outstanding students from schools across Owo Local Government Area. The initiative, spearheaded by Dr. Foluso Falaye, aims to not only inspire academic excellence but also to prepare students to compete on a global stage. Declaring the event open, veteran educationist Chief Bisi Ogunleye described Dr. Falaye as a passionate believer in the power of education and congratulated the students for benefiting from such a rare opportunity. He urged them to remain focused and maintain their high performance to further encourage the sponsor’s efforts.


In his remarks, Dr. Faluso Falaye explained that the FSMO is designed not just to prepare students for the JAMB examination, but to give them a holistic academic foundation that would enable them to excel in global examinations such as the SAT and CAT. He emphasized that serious students who go the extra mile in their studies will find themselves well-positioned for international opportunities. “We will support you to secure scholarships. All we ask from you is to remain focused,” Dr. Falaye said. The Coordinator of the Olympiad, Dr. Kehinde Adenegan, praised Dr. Falaye’s unwavering commitment to academic excellence and noted that the FSMO has already started producing top results. He cited Master Precious Olamide, who scored 347 in the last JAMB, placing him among the best students in Owo and Nigeria at large.


Also speaking, Mrs. Olanisimi Ladele (née Falaye) commended her brother for the laudable project and advised the students to take full advantage of the opportunity. She warned against peer pressure and urged them to steer clear of cultism, internet fraud, and other vices that derail young lives. Prizes were awarded to the best-performing students in the competition. Salami Oluwadamilola of Dominion Academy emerged overall best, winning ₦150,000 cash, a trophy, a medal, and a mobile tablet. Babade Rejoice of Leadership Academy came second with a ₦120,000 prize and a medal, while Oshomah Paul of Ebenezer Academy took third place with ₦100,000.


Other top performers included Odeyemi Toluwanimi from Owo High School (4th position, ₦40,000), Adeluwoye Omolola of Dominion Academy (5th, ₦30,000), and Adenegan Eriayomi of Greatprints International School (6th, ₦25,000). Students who placed 7th to 10th, including Julius Oluwadarasimi (Imade College), Dedeigbo Joshua (AUD), Omisade Excellent (St. Louis), and Adeyemo Samuel (Bellez), each received ₦20,000. Mr. Sanni Ajimuda, the Tutor General of Ondo State, described Dr. Falaye’s effort as an inspiration not only to the students but to the entire community. Owo High School Principal, Mr. Tunde George, expressed gratitude for Dr. Falaye’s continued support and commitment to his alma mater and Owo at large.


Dr. Foluso Falaye reaffirmed his dedication to raising academic champions from Owo, stressing that the long-term goal of FSMO is to put Owo on the global map through the power of education. The well-attended ceremony had in attendance notable dignitaries including Hon. Grace Abebi Aruwajoye Adeniseun, the Ondo North Commissioner at OSOPADEC; Dr. Adenegan Kehinde Emmanuel; Prof. Taiwo Adenegan; Mr. Bola Olowo, National Secretary of the Owo High School Old Students’ Association; Prince Samuel Alade, National PRO of OHSOSA; Hon. Chief Solomon Adenegan; Prince S. F. Dada; and High Chief Joshua Aladenusi, among others.
